The Southwest Regional Public Health Training Center was established in Fall 2010 to enhance the competency of the public health workforce in California, Utah, and Nevada.
The goal of the SRPHTC is to improve the health status of residents in California, Nevada, and Utah through the delivery of essential services by the public health workforce. This is consistent with the Healthy People 2010 Focus Area 23 goal to “Ensure that federal, tribal, state, and local health agencies have the infrastructure to provide essential public health services effectively.” Thus, the overall objective of SRPTHC is to improve the competency of the public health workforce in our region.
We are particularly committed to ensuring that the public health workforce in medically underserved areas (i.e., rural, frontier, as well as inner-city) has unfettered access to quality training activities and, hence, is better able to meet their needs as well as the needs of medically underserved populations within the SRPHTC region.
